Vinita here today on the blog with a beautiful altered gift box.
I enjoy using Little Birdie Chalk Paints a lot because of their versatility and the amazing choice of shades.
I had a very beautiful dry-fruit box in my stash for a long time and wanted to use it for making something useful. The moment I saw the newly launched chalk paints, I knew how I wanted to use it with decoupage papers and metal charms. Here is how I gave it a makeover…
Firstly, I primed the box as it was already covered with a designer paper. I applied a layer of a diluted gesso.
Then, I applied the wonderful shade called Sangria. It is so rich in color and can create a shabby, rusty look as well as a vintage effect as you desire.
I wanted a mix of both shabby and vintage look, so I chose a beautiful decoupage paper from the Fairy Blossom pack. To tone down the chalk paint colour effect, I applied a coat of Snow chalk paint over it. It dries so fast. Then I applied a coat of Crackle Medium base coat and after drying, I added the top coat on it. Love the crackling effect on it. Next, I burnished it with Glimmer Moss metallic wax using a paper napkin and rubbed it extra carefully.

Have you ever explored the Little Birdie metal charm collection? They are beyond beautiful. For this, I chose a mask for my project along with some primed chippies.

Enhanced the beauty of this project using handmade flowers!
On these, I applied Tinted Metallic Paint.

Here is the opening of the box. It has a magnet inside and I added a cute handle to it using soft gel medium, a strong glue for all type of materials.

I totally enjoyed the new chalk paints and cute metal charms. Try out bright and cool colors in a well balanced way to add cheer and warmth to your projects!
Love and Hugs!
