Crafter in the Spotlight

Hello arty crafty friends,

Every Thursday we hear the story of a talented crafter but it never gets monotonous because everyone has a unique story to share with us about their journey down the creative lane! Let’s hear it from Akhila Bapatla this time in ‘Crafter in the Spotlight’

Even though Akhila is a doctor by profession but her love for crafting has kept her going with her creativity. She calls herself a semi professional crafter. She has been fond of acrylic painting since she was a kid and now is absolutely into polymer clays.

How did Akhila get into crafting, what inspires her, what are her tips for fellow crafters, her favourite quote, how would she contribute to the crafting world if she had magical powers? Rashmi Closepet, MD, Itsy Bitsy:  Tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

Akhila Bapatla: I am a Doctor by profession and now a semi professional crafter.

RC: How did you get into crafting?

AB:   I used to work on acrylic painting since childhood, later on I was introduced to clay crafting by my brother.

RC: What is your favourite type of craft?

AB:  Right now I am totally into polymer clay and it is my most favourite crafting medium.

RC:  What are your favourite products at Itsy Bitsy?

AB: Crafting tools, jewellery findings and beads.

RC:  If you had magical powers, how would you contribute to the Crafting world?

AB: Ha ha!! I would try to create new materials and throw new challenges on people: D

RC:   Your prized possession in your craft stash from Itsy Bitsy?

AB:  My Clay tools 🙂   

RC:  How would you describe your style of crafting?

AB:  My crafting is mostly inspired by Nature

RC: How do you organize your time for crafting?

AB:  I think my passion for crafting will somehow find time. Sometimes I work late in the nights too.

RC: Tips for people who want to craft

AB:  There is always a beginning for everything. If you get excited about something follow it through. Look for other artists who are better than you. Learn to reject bad pieces by yourself. Never give up! Your passion will take you there! For me there is a long-way to go too and I can show you the difference in my work in a span of 3 years time. See in the pictures below
