Rashmi Closepet M.D Itsy Bitsy: Tell us a bit about yourself & your background?

Rimjhim Garg: Hi, my name is Rimjhim. I am from Kanpur, UP. I am a business analyst by profession and a crafter at heart. I did my engineering in Electronics and Communication. Crafting and painting is just like a meditation for me. I am into arts since my childhood. But then came into the IT sector and decided to pursue my hobby along with it.

RC: How did you get into crafting?

RG: One of my friends was aware of my interest in arts. She added me to a FB group. I think that was the starting point. I came across purely handmade crafts and products. The urge of learning and making them got me into crafting.

RC: What is your favorite type of craft?

RG: I am more into painting and decoupaging. Though I don’t limit myself to this!  I love to work with wooden textures and experiment with different mediums.

RC: What are your favorite products at Itsy Bitsy?

RG: Favorite products!!!!! It’s hard to tell this. The list is too long and infinite. If you ask me my current favorites, that’s Chalk Paints and flower embellishments. Its toooo goooodddd!!!

RC: If you had magical powers, how would you contribute to the Crafting world?

RG: If I have magical powers, I would open Itsy Bitsy stores in every city of this country. I will tell why… There are 2 reasons. A) People from small cities can try their hands in crafting. B) I wouldn’t have to search for an art and craft store where ever I go. Itsy Bitsy would be there… 😀

RC: Your prized possession in your craft stash from Itsy Bitsy?

RG: I would say Chalk Paints, stencils, stamps, latest decoupage papers. Oh the list is too long!!

RC: How would you describe your style of crafting?

RG: I would say my style of crafting is wooden, rustic and vintage. But at the same time, as I am a painter too, I love colors. So, many of my projects are colorful and vibrant!

RC: How do you organize your time for crafting?

RG: Oh, that’s the only thing I struggle with. TIME!! I have a fixed routine of 9-6 office, 6:30-7:30 aerobics/badminton and then 9-12/1 crafting. I like to keep myself busy.. LOL.

RC: Tips for people who want to craft

RG: I always say one thing to myself and to everyone. “Starting is the key”. Until and unless you start what you want to, you won’t come to know whether you can do it or not.

RC: Your all -time favorite quote?

RG: Fight for your dreams and your dreams will fight for you.

Here is a gorgeous project by   Rimjhim & the step by step procedure:

Step 1: I told MDF base. Sanded it using sand paper and applied a coat of gesso which I bought from itsy bitsy.

Step 2: Once the gesso was dried, I took decoupage tissues. Bit confused which one to use:

Step 3: Decoupaged the tissue using little birdy decoupage glue and kept it from drying.

Step 4: Colored the background using acrylic colors. Attached the wooden alphabets and varnished it completely.

Here are a couple of  Rimjhim’s  other awesome creations:
