Along with Decoupage and making Albums, she has now fallen in love with Mixed Media and thoroughly enjoys it.

Vidhi conducts art and craft sessions with kids. She adores Little Birdie’s range of newly released mixed media supplies and also loves to use handmade flowers and chipboard shapes in her creations.

Rashmi Closepet M.D Itsy Bitsy: Tell us a bit about yourself & your background?

Vidhi Jadeja: Hola people! This is Vidhi Jadeja from Mumbai. I am an artist by profession, an avid blogger, and a compassionate person. I moved from “Aapnu Ahmedabad” (Our Ahmedabad in Gujarati) to “Aamchi Mumbai” (Our Mumbai in Marathi) post marriage. I completed a Diploma in Fine Arts after my post graduation in Commerce. Currently, I am a doting daughter-in-law, a full-time homemaker, a mother of two sweet little angels and a compassionate person.

RC: How did you get into crafting?

VJ: I have been passionate about art and craft from early days of life. I have loved creativity in all forms, especially in ART. I even had Painting exhibits along with other artists during my Fine Arts day. Post marriage, with a new setting, and addition to my family, it was a different canvas. To invest in my family and children, I had to put my creative pursuits on a back burner. But the artist in me couldn’t sit quiet for long. I started conducting art and craft sessions for kids which rekindled my love for creativity. Thus, my entrepreneurial foray began and since then, I haven’t looked back.

RC: What is your favourite type of craft?

VJ: The type of craft forms that interest me are Decoupage, Mixed Media Art, Layouts and Album making. I like all traditional Indian art forms too. But right now, I am head over heels in love with Mixed Media art. It’s a very versatile form. One can use it on simple tags, albums, alterables, cards, layouts, anywhere & everywhere!! It gives me immense freedom to channelize my creativity in many forms.

RC: What are your favourite products at Itsy Bitsy?

VJ: Difficult question here! I love all products from Itsy Bitsy. It’s unjust to pick only a few. However, if I get partial and consider my love for Mixed Media… my favorites are the entire newly launched range of products from Mixed Media 2 in 1 Gesso, Crackle Medium, Metallic Paints, Flowers, Chipboards, Embossing Texture Paste, Sparkle Paste and Fiber Paste.

RC: If you had magical powers, how would you contribute to the Crafting world?

VJ: If I had magical powers, I would recommend everyone to buy handmade creations, gift items and home décor pieces that have great value for money and adds to the celebration. All crafters need that bit of appreciation for their hard work, skill and creative thinking!

RC: Your prized possessions in your craft stash from Itsy Bitsy?

VJ: My prized possessions in my craft room from Itsy Bitsy are their huge variety of Handmade Flowers and Chipboards.

RC: How would you describe your style of crafting?

VJ: I don’t have a particular style of crafting. With passage of time, I realised my love and inclination towards vintage, rustic, wooden, masculine, distressed and ethnic art forms and thus, most of my projects revolve around the same themes.

RC: How do you organise your time for crafting?

VJ: To do a craft with lots of supplies and kids in tow is a Herculean task! Over the years, I have understood that no one really has spare time. One needs to take out time from their daily and busy schedules to pursue their passion.

RC: Tips for people who want to craft

VJ: Crafting is like deep meditation for every passionate crafter.  It allows one to wander freely into vastness of the creative world and letting go off the real world around. So, Craft Good and Feel Good!

RC: Your all -time favourite quote?

VJ: “Wake up with determination. Work with zeal. Engage thoroughly and then…return to bed with satisfaction”.

Here is a beautiful step-by-step project by  Vidhi:

As I said I love Mix Media …so here I am with My ‘’MIX MEDIA NOTEBOOK’’.

Supplies used from the store:

  1. Script and Grid Stencils
  2. 2 in 1 Gesso and Modelling Paste
  3. Mix Media fibre Paste
  4. Grainy Texture Paste
  5. Mont Marte Gesso – Black
  6. Embossing Powder – Golden
  7. Texture Sand
  8. Crystal Drops
  9. Gold Alcohol Splash – Pink Punch and Frosted Pool
  10. Embellishments
  11. Silicon Glue
  12. Metalic Paints
  13. Fairy Sparkle – Bright Navy and Tawny Gold
  14. Soft Gloss Gel

Step 1:  Took a notebook of my choice. With a knife and stencils, I did some textures and designs on the front cover.  I have randomly applied Little Birdie 2 in 1 Gesso and Modelling Paste, Fibre Paste and Grainy Texture Paste to get beautiful textures on the cover. After that, I applied black Gesso using dry brushing method on the entire cover.

Step 2:   I sprinkled Gold Embossing powder at some places to highlight the textures. Now started sticking the embellishments of my choice on the cover with the help of silicon glue. After the first layer of embellishments, I again applied black Gesso on it and repeat this procedure again with more embellishments for the second layer on the cover.

Step 3:   Then randomly applied Texture Sand and Crystal Drops with the help of Soft Gloss Gel. Soft Gloss Gel helps in sticking the texture elements properly on page. I loved all beautiful shades of Gold Alcohol Splash from the store, so used two shades to get more depth for my project. I sprinkled Pink Punch and Frosted Pool colours at some places to get shine along with lovely colours.

Step 4:  Now, applied Metallic Paints with brushes using dry bushing method on embellishments till I got the desired results. When I was satisfied with the outcome, I applied a shade of bronze on top of the embellishments to get the kind of highlight which I wanted.

Step 5:  At the end I added a beautiful Owl pendant and attached wings and chippie around it. Again did dry brushing on the wings and the chippies with metallic colours and brushes to go with the background. I sprinkled Fairy Sparkle as a last step of my project to ignite more spark on it. And that was it, my project was ready to be enjoyed!!
