D.I.Y Desk Calendar with Watercolor Floral Ballet Paper Pack

Hello everyone, here’s Mukta wishing you all a Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a great festive season and spent some quality time with family and friends…..well at least I did!! I sure hope you guys had some wonderful as well as some life changing moments this year….had some specials days and marked them on your calendar. A new year has started and to keep celebrating the special days of this year we sure need to mark them on a new calendar.

So here I have a project for you all to help you save these special dates on a special CALENDAR. I am sure you guys must have figured that out from the above picture. I made a few of these calendars for my family and friends as a New Year gift. I have a tutorial for you all today and lots of pictures to show…so grab a cup of your favourite beverage and enjoy…. do make some for yourself and your near and dear ones.

  1. I started with White and Kraft cardstock in 270 gsm. I cut 6 white cardstock pieces to the size 8″ by 7″. I also cut 12 kraft cardstock pieces measuring 7 3/4″by 6 3/4″. I cut a corner from all the white cardstock pieces measuring 1″by 1/4″. I did the same cut on the kraft cardstock pieces as well. I then sandwiched white cardstock piece between 2 kraft cardstock pieces…..so every face will be used to denote 1 month.
  2. I also printed out my calendar from the internet. You can also print it out as there are lot of sites providing free printable calendars. I printed out mine on the white cardstock so that it is easier to use.
  3. Then I matted my piece of sandwiched cardstock with pattern paper. I have used Little Birdie’s Watercolor Floral Ballet paper pack. All the papers in this pack are beautiful, floral and have this very cool watercolor effect. It also includes a sheet filled with beautiful sentiments and watercolor flower bunches.
  4. I then matted my calendar piece with matching cardstock and glitter paper to add a little shimmer to my calendar. Itsy Bitsy has a wide variety of glitter papers and they are so much fun to use. I used an olive green one here with red cardstock which perfectly matched this pattern paper and below I used a golden glitter paper with some light yellow cardstock.
  5. I repeated this step for the next 5 pages and here is a glimpse of  all the pages…….they look so colorful together. I also fussy cut some flower bunches from this pack as well as from the Lámour paper pack and matted them on kraft cardstock and embellished my pages with them. I also added some sentiments on each side which are also from the Lámour paper pack. I punched 2 holes at the top of each page and reinforced the holes with eyelets.
  6. I then added these pages to my old calendar stand using binder rings. My calendar stand was colorful…..I just covered it with kraft cardstock to match it with my pages. If you do not have this…then you can make your own stand using chipboard.  I added satin ribbon bows to all my pages to give it a little shabby girly feel to match the watercolor effect. Itsy Bitsy had a huge collection of satin ribbons. I crinkled mine before I added it.  Just wet it with a spritz of water and squash it and let it dry. Here are are more pictures of the final project….I hope you like it.
