Deco Tray with Little Birdie Decoupage Paper

Hello Ladies…..…..

This is Hema here……!!

Hope all you guys are geared up to play along with us this month’s Blog Challenge. We have an interesting challenge … anything made from Little Birdie’s A4 Decoupage  papers.

The decoupage papers come in packs of 4 sheets, with two similar designs each and you have a wonderful choice to pick from!!  Few details of the papers

Features/ Highlights  of the Decoupage papers-

  • SIZE – The papers come in a user friendly size – A4, a good size to work on trays, boxes, wall decors, clocks, MDF planks and more. Good for cards, shabby chic projects, album covers etc……. so you guys have a variety of choices in using these papers.
  • PACKAGING- The papers come in a pack of 4 sheets, each of which have two similar designs 2 of each in a set …………………So if you have to create any of your projects you can coordinate with these papers as you will have enough of them in hand. In case, you are working on a bigger base, the 2 sheets of the same design will help you cover it. So, you can see, the papers are designed to suit various craft needs!
  • PRINTS-  These decoupage papers have  prints that can be used for various themes …feminine, masculine, vintage, nature….just name it and you have it!

So for today’s project I have a pictorial tutorial to inspire you.  I have used a big tray from the store for my work. And the pictorial tutorial will give you an idea for creating your future projects ……

I have primed the tray with White Gesso Primer and have torn the decoupage paper…..placed it on to the centre for working.

I have glued the focal image with Little Birdie Decoupage glue with a soft bristle brush.

I have picked the chalk colors which coordinate with my theme along with the focal image and sponged them around the image, mixing the relevant colors.

.

I have used grey, white and little of yellow for sponging around the focal pic and merged it.

Progressing across the image, I have sponged the colors coordinating with the image.

I have used a bit of pink chalk paint and have sponged it near the flowers and the edges and have synchronized it with the image here.

Now with the grey chalk paint, I have stenciled the image for more highlights. You can use any stencil of your choice based upon the image and project you are working on.

Now here…… I have finished doing the stencil work and also added flowers along with the leafy veins. Once it dried I have stuck washi tape along the edges of the tray so that I can apply paint along the sides of the tray.

I have applied two – three coats of varnish to seal my project. Varnish saves your project from regular wear and tear so that you can use it for longer without losing its beauty. Little Birdie varnish is water based and is so easy to apply. It also doesn’t leave any brush marks on your projects and dries fast without anyadour. Simply put, it’s very user friendly!

Once I gave it two three coats of varnish and dried…this is how my final project looked like.

Hope you guys liked this project.  Can’t wait to see what you guys create and share.

Waiting for your entries……

Cheers!!!

Hema
