Decorative Frame with Glitter Fabric Paints

A warm hello to all my crafty friends.

I hope all of you are safe and sound. Vidhu Thareja here on the blog with new DT  project inspiration, in which I am sharing an idea of creating a beautiful frame for gifting.

As  we all know that the ongoing blog challenge#29 is “about anything goes using  Glitter Fabric Paints” in your projects. Itsy Bitsy has recently introduced this awesome product, available in 12 exciting shades. I was very excited to use this product. Glitter Fabric Paints are one of its kind product available in Indian Craft Market, perfect for DIY fashion, accessories,  and home decor projects. Fabric T-Shirts, bags, cushion covers can be hand washed, once completely dry. As I love to design and create gifts for my love ones, so I have created a beautiful frame using Glitter Fabric Paints. So without further delay let’s start the project.

I had this MDF frame measuring 8*6 inches in my stash. As the name of the our product suggest, It is meant to be used on fabric. So the question came to my mind that how to use this product on MDF base. I had a piece of silk fabric lying with me and I decided to use that. You can use any type of fabric available with you. Fabric Glitter Paint looks great on any type of fabric but gives different kinds of effect.

Since my fabric is thin so I need to have a white base. I wanted to give a little dimension to the  front side of the frame. So I decided to paste foam sheet on the front side only. Luckily I had white foam sheet . Use anything according to the availability. Instead of foam sheet, chip board, burlap, any thick fabric can be used. To paste the foam sheet, I have used one of my favourite product, Little Birdie Deco Magic Fabric  Decoupage Glue. I wanted to keep centre part in contrast with the frame but I did not have silk fabric in contrasting color so I have pasted white satin paper on the centre using the same fabric decoupage glue.

Now it is time to adhere the silk fabric on the frame.  Here also I have used Deco Magic Fabric Decoupage Glue. I love the consistency and smooth flow of this product which not only gives us advantage of adhering the napkin on  the fabric with ease but enables to adhere fabric on surface like MDF.  We don’t get a perfect, wrinkle-free finish with regular decoupage glue.  I have first adhered the silk fabric on the frame and then cut the fabric from the centre. I have left some fabric overhangs and then adhered the overhanging fabric on the rear side of the frame. I left it to dry.  The rear side was looking untidy so I have pasted satin paper at the back, using the same fabric decoupage glue.

Now it is time to decorate my frame. For this frame I chose two shades of Glitter Fabric Paint – Teal Glint and Cherry Sparkle. I just love the glittery effect and the consistency of the paints.  They can be applied freehand, with brush and can be used through stencils also. I would not recommend to use it with sponge because sponge tends to absorb whichever medium we use with it. These colors are permanent and one important feature is strong adhesion and durability.

First I have made an outline of the design with 3D glitter golden outliner. Lord Ganesha  is called Vighnaharta and in  this present scenario we all need their blessings Keeping that in mind, I have included illustration of Lord Ganesha in my project. I let it dry and then filled the design with Teal Glint and Cherry Sparkle Glitter Fabric Paint. The paints dry fast. It is so easy to apply that even kids can use these paints and they will have fun with these shimmery colors.

I left it to dry and then pasted some golden stones, using fabric glue. A beautiful decorative frame is ready for gifting with all your good wishes for your love ones.

I hope you like my project and find my blog post inspirational. So don’t forget to participate in the Itsy Bitsy Blog Challenge#29- ” Anything goes using Little Birdie Glitter Fabric Paints.
