Infinity – A Mixed Media Tag

Hello friends,

This is Anila on the blog today. I am back again to inspire you to participate in our ongoing Blog Challenge with Little Birdie Metallic Wax.

I am sure you all must have already bought this lovely product in various colours as they were available at a really amazing price during the launch. So get them out and start crafting!! We all are looking forward to seeing your beautiful projects for the challenge.

I won’t get into the details about these waxes here and you all must have already read them in the previous posts.

Over to my project for today!

I am sharing a Recycled Mixed Media Tag/Panel. You all must be wondering why the name ‘Infinity’? You will find out by the end of this post.

I had this strong and perfect backing of some key chain I had once bought. It was as thick as any chipboard and I didn’t have the heart to throw it away. I recycled this panel to make this tag/decorative panel.

I began by stencilling the tag with stencils and Little Birdie Texture Paste. I have used the Damask stencil and Threadbare net stencil. (Can you see the words on the tag? Don’t bother as they will be hidden once we finish.)

Once the paste was dry, I coloured the entire panel with black gesso.

Once the Gesso was dry, I used the Metallic Wax. Rubbed it all over the panel using my finger.  The debossed portion also got lightly rubbed with the wax.

To give additional texture and interest to the panel, I used mixed media strips, coconut fibre, cheesecloth, chipboard etc.

Assembled the mixed media strips over the panel using white gesso. Adhered the coconut fibre, cheesecloth and the primed chipboard over it.

I used a metal embellishment from my stash. Covered it with black gesso and later rubbed the wax over it.

While it was drying, I rubbed the wax over all the other elements to make them look as a whole.

To create the focal element of my tag, I made a resin embellishment. I used Resin-Hardener, Limeade alcohol ink and a bottle cap for it.  I mixed the resin-hardener and alcohol ink in a cupcake liner. Poured the mixture in the bottle cap and let it dry naturally.

While the resin mix was drying, I added the stone pellets to various parts of the tag. Glued the bottle cap in the centre of the chipboard.  The Resin embellishment reminded me of an Emerald. The shine and the look depict “Infinity” to me. To match the feeling, I added a strip of the sentiment “You are my world”.

Some final pictures.

Hope you guys like this mixed media tag. I would like to know what you think about it.

Looking forward to your participation.

Until next time, Keep crafting!!

Anila.
