Hi Everyone… Saadia here,
Today, I want to share with you a mixed media layout. Little Birdie Crafts has recently launched new designs of flowers. They are very beautiful and perfect for mixed media layouts, scrapbooks, canvas, cards and home decor projects.
Lets start:
I used an old 10x 12 inches canvas. It had old paint and papers on it. I covered it with white gesso. Little Birdie gesso is my new favourite. It is stark white and primes the surface beautifully even with a single coat. I’ve taken, before and after gesso, pictures of my canvas. I applied only a single coat and it gave good coverage.
Next, I applied Color Splash and Alcohol Splash sprays. I diluted the colors a bit with water mist.
After that, I applied Grainy Texture Paste through the Little Birdie Irregular Dots -stencil. This Grainy Texture Paste is great for texture. It is quick drying and can be applied directly with a palette knife, an old gift card or a silicon brush. You can use it with a free-hand or apply through a stencil. It can also be mixed with paints, sprays, inkers to get a customized paste. It can also be easily painted after drying.
while the Grainy paste was drying, I gathered embellishments for my layout. These included Little Birdie’s new flowers, some dried moss and gauze from my stash and dried twigs.
Then, I arranged and glued my embellishments around my focal image.
Softened the background colors with Snow and Muted Teal chalk paints and did some background stamping.
Next, I painted a primed Little Birdie chipboard sentiment and glued it in place. These chipboard shapes and sentiments are already primed and don’t need a coat of gesso.
Lastly, I added few finishing touches to my layout.
I hope you liked my project.
Take care and keep crafting!!
