Mixed Media Canvas with Photo Transfer Art

Hey friends Bela here! Excited to share my guest post at Itsy Bitsy’s blog with you. Today I will share a beautiful mixed media canvas with you all.  However, it’s not the regular mixed media canvas because I will use the photo transfer technique for this creation. Here is the step by step procedure and you can follow the steps to make your own beautiful mixed media canvas with photo transfer using Little Birdie’s Photo Transfer Medium.

To begin, take a 6 x 8 inch primed canvas and select a picture which is more or less of the same size. Take a printout of the picture on a normal paper.  Now, on the clean canvas, generously apply Little Birdie Photo Transfer Medium.

Also apply a coat of the same medium on the front face of the picture and then adhere the front face of the print onto the canvas. Make sure to remove all the air bubbles and stick it thoroughly onto the canvas. Let it dry overnight.

The next day, take a wet sponge and rub it on the canvas over the printout and wait for 2 to 3 minutes for the paper to soak all the water. Now gently using your fingers remove the paper from the canvas. You can use a sponge too.

Remember to be gentle or else the print will also come off with the paper.

After you remove all the layers of the paper and the picture is visible, allow it to dry completely.

Once dry, apply the  Little Birdie Acrylic Soft Gel Medium on the canvas with a brush. This will protect your picture when we work on the mixed media creation. After this, apply a generous layer of Little Birdie Mixed Media Paste around the picture.

To add more interest to the texture I have stamped at the right side of the picture with musical notes stamp and script stamp. You can use any stamp of your choice. It will create an impression on the modeling paste and that will give it a further interesting look. To give it old n grungy look apply little bit of the texture paste on the picture too.

Once you are satisfied with the way the texture looks, allow it to dry thoroughly. Thereafter spray shades of color splash. I chose the colors which complemented my picture.

Wipe off all the extra paints which  you may accidentally spray on the picture.

Dry brush it with the Mixed Media Paste to enhance the textures. Apply Acrylic Soft Gel Medium in matte or gloss to seal it.

There yo go! Your mixed media canvas with photo transfer is ready to flaunt!!

Hope you find this interesting and creatively inspiring………..  would love to see your version of it.

Love & Hugs
