You And Me, Mixed Media Shabby Chic Valentine’s Day Layout

Together, forever,
That’s what I see.
Whenever, wherever
That’s how we’ll be.
Together, forever,
That’s you and me.

Hello guys

This is your DT Mukta today bringing you some inspiration for the upcoming Valentine’s Day…..I am sure you guys must all be very excited about this day when we celebrate love.  Well, my husband is away at work and would be coming back just before Valentine’s Day and I made this project for him…..really looking forward to it.

Now, back to our project…. I have a small mixed media layout today. Its 5″ by 7″ ( A7 ) in size and so if you want, you can even make it into a card by adhering the layout to a standard A7 card base. This project is shabby chic…which is my favorite style and has some mixed media work as well. Itsy Bitsy has come with this this awesome range of Valentine’s Day products which include papers, flower embellishments, stickers, tags and die cuts, ribbons and more. To shop for this range click HERE and it will take you directly to the Valentine’s Day collection.

I have used the newly launched ” A TRUE LOVE STORY ” paper pack from Little Birdie along with the beautiful handmade flowers – Naomi. I was ready to shoot my video but my tripod broke……. and I have a pictorial tutorial for you all. So lets get started…

I started with the script paper from the ‘A true Love Story’ paper pack, 1 shabby black printed sheet from the Eno greeting Retro Series bought from the store a while back and 1 Red cardstock sheet. I cut 5″ by 7″ piece from the red cardstock, 4 4/3″ by 6 3/4″ from the black printed sheet and 4 1/2″ by 61/2″ from the script paper. I distressed the edges of all the 3 pieces.

I adhered the black paper to the red cardstock and kept it aside. To add more strength to my script paper, I matted it with white cardstock which was cut to the same size and distressed it again. Then did a little stencil work on this piece using the Inclined Dots stencil and Little Birdie’s Mixed Media Paste (White). I dried it with my heat tool and spritzed a little color on my panel. I used Color Splash- Hot Pink and Paprika. Love the way it blends and creates depths. Then, I added a little foam tape to the back of this panel and mounted it on the base I made earlier.

Then, I started to play with flowers and embellishments. I gold heat embossed a Chipboard frame and added it to the panel along with some flowers using Silicon Glue. I also added some Beige cotton thread to create more texture.

Once this was ready, I dry brushed Gesso on the flowers to tone it down a little and added white acrylic color splatters to the entire layout. The sparkly touches came from Dazzle Cocktail in 3 shades – Manhattan, Cosmopolitan and Red Chilli. Love the way it catches the light. I finished with 2 little fussy cut hearts covered with dazzle Cocktail sparkle and the sentiments are actually cut out from a magazine which I matted on white cardstock. Here are few pictures….

That finishes my tutorial for this project. I hope you guys like it and you will draw some inspiration from it. Untill the next time….Keep Crafting and Keep Smiling.

Hugs

DT Mukta
