Rashmi Closepet M.D Itsy Bitsy: Tell us a bit about yourself & your background?

Priya Chajjed: Hi All! I am Priya Chajjed. Born and raised in Rajasthan, I have been residing in Ahmedabad for 7 years now.

RC: How did you get into crafting?

PC: I had never imagined I would be a crafter someday! It all started when I moved to Ahmedabad. Initially, I had no friends and family here and it became difficult for me to pass time in a new city. Not having much to do, I started crafting which slowly turned into my passion. My loved ones strongly believed in me and with their support and encouragement, I stepped out of my comfort zone and started my craft venture. My younger sister has always helped me out and I now can proudly say that she is a crafter too.

RC: What is your favourite type of craft?

PC: My favorites are scrapbooking and mixed media. I love to learn and try out different art forms all the time.

RC: What are your favourite products at Itsy Bitsy?

PC: This is the most difficult question! I love every product of Itsy Bitsy. The store has an amazing range of variety. If I had to pick favorites, I would go for Chalk Paints, Chipboards and Handmade flowers.

RC: If you had magical powers, how would you contribute to the Crafting world?

PC: I believe I already have magical powers in my hands and that is why I am able to make such beautiful creations! I wish to continue creating more wonders and fill happiness into this world.

RC: Your prized possession in your craft stash from Itsy Bitsy?

PC: Little Birdie flowers, Chalk paints and Chipboards

RC: How would you describe your style of crafting?

PC: I just love making albums which are a store-house of memories. I also enjoy trying my hands on new things and making exciting projects.

Mixed media layouts are my current favorite!

RC: How do you organise your time for crafting?

PC: Crafting is my first love and priority. I manage all other things around crafting.

RC: Tips for people who want to craft

PC: Don’t hold yourself back. Just go for it! Remember no one is perfect, and this itself is a beautiful art! Crafting gives so much happiness.

RC: Your all -time favourite quote?

PC: ‘You can’t use up creativity, the more you use, the more you have it!

Here is a gorgeous project by    & the step by step procedure:

Step 1: Let’s gather all the materials! You will require Gesso, Modeling paste, Stencil, Thermocol balls, Thread, Color Splash, Metallic color (bronze), Hearty Melange and Craft glue.

I am using an old frame from my stash for this mixed media project.

Step 2: Apply gesso on the frame and let it air dry or use a heat gun.

Step 3: Apply a coat of One Step Crackle Medium and let it dry. Take a stencil and cover it entirely with modeling paste!

Step 4: Arrange and stick small thermacol balls and pieces of thread, both on the stencil and around the rim of the frame using Itsy Bitsy Craft glue.

Step 5: Now make embellishments of any shape and size of your choice for your project. I made this embellishment with hot glue gun.

Step 6: Place the frame over the backing and glue it. Place your embellishments inside the frame as you wish. Now colour the entire arrangement. I chose to paint the entire project with black acrylic paint. Once the paint dries, you can see the crackled effect clearly.

Step 7: Let’s add some more color to the creation! You can randomly color certain parts with Color Splash spray and apply a coat of tinted metallic paint too.

Select thermocol shapes of your choice and cover it with glitter. I have taken a heart shaped thermocol piece and covered it with red glitter.

Step 8: Add the thermocol embellishment to your frame.  Decorate the frame with Hearty-Melange sparkle element to give it a fancy look.

Hope you guys enjoyed this simple mixed media tutorial.
