Live Your Dreams – A Mixed Media Canvas

Hi Everyone, Saadia here,

Today, I am sharing  a mixed media project with you. I hope you like it.

Let’s start :

I used an 8×10 inches canvas panel by Monte Marte, as my substrate. I covered it with Little Birdie 2 in 1 Mixed Media paste. I applied the paste through a  Little Birdie stencil.

Next, I glued my embellishments with Heavy Gel medium – Matte. I glued the flowers with hot glue gun to save time.

After that, I covered everything with White gesso. This gesso is great for priming the surface before applying paint. It can also be mixed with paint, inkers to get a custom gesso colour.

Next, I painted the background with acrylic paint and applied a coat of Little Birdie One Step Crackle Medium. I let it dry slightly and then applied a lighter shade of acrylic paint.

Little Birdie Crafts chalk paints work well with One Step Crackle Medium. Cracks start to appear as soon as you apply the paint over a semi dry layer of One Step Crackle Medium. When all the layers were dry, I sealed the background with two coats of Soft Gel Medium – Matte. Little Birdie Crafts Varnish can be used in place of Gel Medium but I am more comfortable with Gel Medium.

Next, I colored my focal elements with Tinted metallic paints.

Glued Mixed media stones on the primed chipboard frame.

Next, I highlighted the areas with White Gesso and the Tinted Metallic Paints.

Added a few white splatters and some seed beads.

That’s it for today. I hope you liked my project.

Thank you for visiting. Don’t forget to take part in this month’s Blog Challenge.

Take care and keep crafting!!
